Dispatch No. 3 · August 2026

August, and publishing has apparently agreed that the eleventh is the only day anyone needs. Fifty releases, fifteen of them landing on that one Tuesday, and some of the biggest names in fantasy have turned up all at once. Robert Jackson Bennett takes the Shadow of the Leviathan into a third volume on the 4th, still writing a detective series whose narrator readers describe, fondly, as a bisexual disaster. T. Kingfisher returns to the World of the White Rat with Daggerbound on the 25th. The 11th alone brings Saara El-Arifi closing out the Faebound trilogy and M.H. Ayinde following a debut that finalled for the Ignyte, the Locus and the British Fantasy in the same year. Ten horror titles underneath all that, because the genre has never once taken August off.
